A classic afternoon of enriching tradition and locally crafted delights await your arrival at our Great Hall. We have carefully designed this space to help you embark on a journey dating back to the 1800s. At Itz'ana Resort, we have taken great pride in showcasing the diverse, rich history and culture that set the stepping stones of our nation today. As you step into our Great House, you are surrounded by the unique architectural pieces that adorn our lobby, lounge, restaurant, bar, and the Great Hall. Exotic handcrafted artifacts and furniture sourced from local Central American artisans embellish our Great Hall in a utopian blend of chic, luxury and ethnic, making it home to our Great Hall Champagne Tea.

Great Hall Champagne Tea

The tradition of high tea or afternoon dates back as early the 1700s in England when the 7th Duchess of Bedford requested tea and a light snack to ease the sinking feeling in her stomach. Friends and family were often invited to "high tea". Traditionally, the upper-class would be served high tea around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, prior to an evening promenade before dinner. The tradition followed in many hotels in England, quickly persuading the common household to also engage. It was by 1862 that Belize (at the time British Honduras) was a colony, sharing many English traditions, including high tea.

To carry on the tradition, we have created our Great Hall Champagne Tea to provide you with an opportunity to travel back in time and enjoy a delicious presentation of high tea with a twist, as we introduce you to the option of champagne or prosecco; for those that fancy variety. This monthly event allows you to dive into your surroundings in our Great Hall as you enjoy the views of the beach and the exquisite décor, all while enjoying a variety of tropically inspired foods ranging from our artisan quiches, shrimp tostadas, sliders, scones, and 8 different cakes.

Fortunately, this experience does not have to end at our Great Hall. We invite you to spend the evening with us at the pool bar or at our Limilia Restaurant, where your palate can explore our local and seasonal menu, inspired by the local fishermen and the rich culture of Garifuna people. At Itz'ana we also offer day packages that cater to your family and friends, including our Pool Day Package. If you're interested in an unforgettable evening, we welcome you to some of our other monthly events including Sushi on the Beach, Ladies Night and our Chef Table event.

An afternoon of ‘champagne tea' may be the best excuse to share thoughts with great minds, all amidst the wondrous Caribbean Sea Breeze and the English memories left behind in our Great Hall.  If this English tradition with a twist (or any of our monthly events) sounds like you, please contact our team today to make your reservation at concierge@itzanabelize.com or contact us through WhatsApp at +501-610-1329.
